Red Sparrow Construction delivered the refurbishment and subdivision of an existing ground-floor office within the Main Teaching Building at Colfe’s School.

The project created two separate offices, each with independent access from the existing corridor. The works required careful coordination of structural alterations, fire safety, mechanical and electrical services, data installations and internal finishes within an operational education estate.

Scope of Works

🧱 Structural Alterations
Formation of a new opening within the existing corridor wall, completed to the structural engineer’s design.

🚪 Fire Doors and Compartmentation
Installation of two glazed FD30 self-closing doorsets, a full-height 30-minute partition and associated fire stopping.

🔇 Acoustic Partitioning
Construction of a metal-framed partition with acoustic mineral wool and multiple layers of acoustic plasterboard.

💡 Lighting and Electrical Works
Installation of LED lighting, emergency lighting, absence detection, additional sockets and associated testing.

🌐 Data Installation
New Cat6 data outlets, cabling, termination and certification.

🔥 Fire Safety Systems
Coordination of smoke detection, fire-alarm alterations, emergency lighting and project-specific fire strategy requirements.

🌀 Ventilation
Installation of four ceiling fans, coordinated with the new suspended-ceiling layout.

🧰 Internal Finishes
New carpet tiles, suspended ceilings, skirtings and complete redecoration of the altered offices.

📁 Project Handover
Testing, commissioning, certificates, as-built information and digital operation and maintenance documentation.

Project Delivery

Red Sparrow managed the project from pre-construction coordination through to completion and handover. Responsibilities included construction planning, RAMS, COSHH information, protection measures, subcontractor coordination, Building Control information and the preparation of the project fire strategy.

The completed scheme provided two separate office spaces incorporating new fire-safety measures, electrical and data installations, acoustic separation and coordinated interior finishes.

Red Sparrow Construction has delivered a wide range of refurbishment, maintenance and improvement works across the JAGS estate, supporting the ongoing upkeep and enhancement of teaching, administration and pupil facilities.
